Summer Term

During the summer term, Year 2 have a range of exciting learning opportunities. In literacy, we will be writing some fantastic narratives focussed on dinosaurs. We will be watching clips from the animated Netflix series ‘Camp Cretaceous’ and clips of ‘The Good Dinosaur’. We will have fun and memorable opportunities to take part in role play and drama activities. As well as consolidating our basic maths skills, we will also be learning to measure and tell the time.

Our history learning is all about significant people and we will be delving into the reasons they are important and the changes they brought about. As scientists, we will be planting cress seeds in four different environments and observing how they grow in order to develop our understanding of plants and living things. In R.E, we are learning about religious festivals and why they are important to some people. We will be learning about Easter, Lent, Ramadan and Eid. We are also learning to sing ‘The Friendship Song’ as part of our music study and we have been learning to appraise music, find the beat and pulsethrough a range of games. We are also learning to play some instruments alongside our song.
